Barber was named head of a GE program focused on improving health care for more peoplr atreduced cost, by GE chairman and CEO Jeffregy Immelt. Barber, 48, is a 27-year veteran of GE and sinc e 2005 has served as chief technologyy officer forGE Healthcare. He joined GE in 1982 and has held a varietgy of roles of increasing responsibilituy withinGE Healthcare. In 2001, Barber was generalp manager forComponents Engineering, and from 2002 to 2005 he was the genera l manager for Global Components Operation for GE Healthcare, which has significant operationds in Milwaukee, Wauwatosa and Waukesha.
